So been chipping away at my new workspace some more. Built a work bench, grabbed a $50 tool chest I got off Craigslist, and got this bonkers wood stove for free with a bunch of insulated piping as well - going to get my sweat lodge on while I tare down, build up, and repeat.

Coil mounting. Had to dremel the coil bracket holes because they didn't line up. And yes, progress is exciting: unless your a right wing conservative - then it's Satanic.

I found this photo the other day and it brought back some great memories. I got this maxi on ebay for about $125 in 2002... I think? The stock color was purple and I wish I never repainted it. The photo below was taken a couple years later after I had installed a polini, proma circuit, 15mm bing and a couple other things. Those were pretty much the best parts you could get at the time unless you wanted to order from 50cc.nl I never imagined what the moped scene would grow into.... hydraulic forks with disc brakes, insane CDIs, Custom Exhaust... crazy!

Hey Ponies and Friends,

Now that it's getting too cold to ride on Tuesday nights, we're going to start the fix-it nights back up. Starting at 8pm you'll be able to work on your projects at the warehouse. We were also thinking of doing this every other week, and on the off weeks we could meet at Julians to hang, drink, eat, whatever. Let us know what you think.

Also, there is talk of taking day rides since the nights are too cold. Anyone interested? Maybe a weekend ride, maybe a weekday ride.

When I bought the Sebring from Handsom Dan... she was a sad, lonely top tank... neglected due to HD's overwhelming amount of projects. So with the agreement of "do it right," I purchased said Sebring.

This is it as of today...

Powder coated 17" rims with 3.00 Gazelles and sealed bearing conversion.

Tank was wire brushed, rusted a bit and then powder coated + Kreem'd.

Swingarm and triple tree components were wired down and clear coated.

I figured out the secret to tires.... I have this stuff called back to black. Its a liquid black plastic/rubber restorer. Very slippery.... so I used it around the tube and on the tire and it made it so much easier to mount. AND I didn't pop a tube. This worked for me.... I'm sure everyone has their own method.

It only took 10 months to build but it's ready just in time for our rally! Mostly it took so long just because I got busy and didn't touch it since last March. Thanks to Tim I have a fancy new intake that works with the 65cc Hero Cylinder. I only went with the Derbi Head because I had one and it seemed to fit. Still have to time it and Jet it properly but from my quick little ride around the parking lot I can tell it's going to rip. Hopefully someday I will put some decent tires and fork on it.

A general color sceme idea of what my Sebring will have. All the metal parts are rusted to perfection and then coated. I pick up the seat on Thursday... cant wait to see it! If you're looking for a powder coating guy in RI who does under the table work for pretty cheap, ask! solid job. Ill put in a picture of the painted frame when I update with a seat pic. Might steal the brown leather belt on the tank idea from '77... This bike will be unbelievable when its done. So stoked.

I spent some time working on my magnum yesterday. Finally got my new forks to actually work, changed out the idle jet and needle in my carb. My low end and mid range feels sooo good now. I still want to switch out my transmission oil so that the clutch slips a little better but I am really happy with how it is running now.

Also installed my new headlight which has been sitting on my desk for a couple weeks. I'd like to thank Motomatic for posting this on their blog a while back and Richard for motivating me to actually order one.

So, our registration is up! It's official. People are slowly starting to sign up, including someone who is "pumped to attend his first rally!!!" haha! I'm really excited, and hopefully you all are as well!

We had a rally meeting last night. Kendra, Aaron, Tim, Tom, Ryan, and Narcissa all came. Nothing is set in stone yet, but we're on our way. It would be great if everyone could come to the next meeting, including anyone who is in the gang but can't attend the rally. We want everyone's input! Let's shoot for another meeting some night next week, maybe at my house or Kendra's house. We'll keep you posted.

Also, we're probably going to have a Sunday morning ride to plan the route for the Saturday ride. All are welcome and encouraged to come!

Providence to Boston (and Back)

This past Sunday I ended up riding to Boston to Visit Jake and Jay M. I pretty much took route 1A the entire way. It was pretty awesome riding 50-60mph for miles and miles. I met up with Jake and Jay in Jamaica Plains. Jay showed us his banjos and then we went and got sandwiches. After that Jay took us on an amazing ride around JP. They were some of the best rodes I have ever ridden. Lots of turns and pretty fast. Ended up checking out some abandoned bear cages that were part of a zoo in the 1920's. On the way home I got lost in Hyde Park and got rained on for a little bit. It was still a fun ride. I want to make the trip again but bring along some other riders.

Clutch Issues

I noticed my clutch was acting up the past few months and finally had time to check it out. It would try to grab at idle and sometimes would grab when the bike was off and I was just pushing it. Last night I decided to open it up. For some reason the clutch was fitting really tight in the bell. I thought maybe the the bell was warped so I dropped it in another one and it wouldn't even slide in. I ended up putting a two shoe in so that I could ride this weekend and it hits harder off the line than I could ever get that three shoe to hit. I should have put one in years ago. Next up are new crank bearings. I noticed a tiny bit of play when I was replacing the clutch...

The Magnum Is Back

So after nearly a year my magnum project is finally complete. I have taken my time with this one, and it has most certainly paid off. She has a completely rebuilt e50, a facelift and a couple upgrades. She's running excellent and is really smooth. I know it might not be the fastest bike on the streets, but I built this one conservatively to be reliable on long distance rides.

Here's the current setup:

Just thought I'd share my progress on my bike. I know most of my fellow Ponies feel as though I fell off the face of the earth...but I'm still here! Here's why I haven't been able to ride fellas, and I'll let the pictures do the talking:

- Nearly new V1 bottom end (~100 miles) with roller crank
- 75cc Polini (case matched, 19mm intake and 25mm exhaust match, drilled oil holes on the piston)
- High compression head w/custom longer engine studs
- Ramsey Simonini exhaust
- 19mm Race PHBG with all the fixings (incl. AU atomizer/bushing!) w/custom 19mm intake
- CEV CDI w/Tomos 12v lighting coil and Korado voltage regulator
- Rebuilt 17" Snowflakes w/ Sava MC11 tires (2.25")...no more 16s!
- 9x31 gearing (rear sprocket is a modified Tomos one)

:)...oh and don't mind the rear wheel over spray...powder coated in the winter!

Lost the kickstand but tonnnnns of pedal clearance.

Custom cylinder studs to get that head to fit.

Homebrewed 19mm intake.

Easy access.

Custom exhaust flange.

Can I get an amen?

CDI wires and such.

SO I still need to hook up the rear brake cable, cut and attach the chain, time the engine, put gas in it, register it, and put the front snowflake on. But ahh, so so close. I hope it flies!
