In my slow crawl of rebuilding my moped - I took a few hours to take my old points/internal coil off and replace it with this shininess:

Up close and personal:

Coil mounting. Had to dremel the coil bracket holes because they didn't line up. And yes, progress is exciting: unless your a right wing conservative - then it's Satanic.

I have been really missing my purple Derbi and wanting another one. I might have found a replacement!

I got tired of breaking my back to work on my bikes, so this past weekend I built this.

So there I was minding my own business, driving along... and then I found I had accidentally pulled over which is weird - then even more weird I accidentally gave a guy name Tracy money. Then all of a sudden I had accidentally bought a moped... welcome the new General 5 Star

I found these old photos while cleaning my room. These are the only pictures I have of my first moped before it was modified. Too bad they are black and white. I wish you could see the awesome purple paint. They guy riding it is not me. It's my friend Dan. I think the photos were taken in the spring of 2003.

I found this photo the other day and it brought back some great memories. I got this maxi on ebay for about $125 in 2002... I think? The stock color was purple and I wish I never repainted it. The photo below was taken a couple years later after I had installed a polini, proma circuit, 15mm bing and a couple other things. Those were pretty much the best parts you could get at the time unless you wanted to order from 50cc.nl I never imagined what the moped scene would grow into.... hydraulic forks with disc brakes, insane CDIs, Custom Exhaust... crazy!

They are a size small. I've seen them priced $50-$70 on the internet. They don't fit me. If you have small hands and want some sweet riding gloves make me an offer.
