In my slow crawl of rebuilding my moped - I took a few hours to take my old points/internal coil off and replace it with this shininess:
Up close and personal:
Coil mounting. Had to dremel the coil bracket holes because they didn't line up. And yes, progress is exciting: unless your a right wing conservative - then it's Satanic.
Would love to hear how the mini works out for you and what timing you settle for, been enjoying it for the past season myself - scott

My timing might be surprising.. per the suggestion/advice of Graham Motzing I have it set at 1.6 (versus the range of 2-4mm in the instructions that came with it). I have a 1mm aluminum case shim/gasket.. running 40:1 H1R.. and I am nice and cool. I can run in the mid 40's under 300F all day.. a good 15 to 20 degrees cooler than when I was at 2mm.
ReplyDeleteNeed to do a little more carb tuning - running rich.. but still has great torque - and the pipe hits at about 40 and it's a lot of fun up to the 50's.
